This painting describes God’s loving hand of protection on Moses, sparing him from the persecuting Egyptian king. Baby Moses was put in a basket to drift down the Nile River, hidden in the tall grass and watched by Moses’ sister from afar. The daughter of Pharoah saw and pitied the baby in basket, and let him be nursed by Moses’ mother unknowingly. When the child grew older, he became the son of Pharoah's daughter who named him Moses, saying, “I drew him out of the water.” Amazingly, Moses would go on to deliver the Israelites from slavery in Egypt eventually.
