Terms and Conditions

 

1. Categories 

 

Physical Artworks

Category 1: 7 years and under

Category 2: 8-12 years

Category 3: 13-18 years

Category 4: Open Category (19 years and above)

 

Digital Art

Student: 18 years and below

Open: 19 years and above

 

Photography

Open: All are welcome to participate

 

1.1     Participants may submit any number of entries for any of our competitions above. However, every participant can only win a maximum of one prize.

1.2     Shared/ group entries are not allowed. Each entry must be registered under only one name.

1.3     Age is calculated as of 31 December 2020. The Organisers reserve the right to request proof of identification if required. Age is calculated as of 31 December 2020.

 

*Please note that The Bible Society of Singapore reserves the right to use any entries submitted to us for our online exhibition or any promotional and publicity materials. In the event that The Bible Society of Singapore request for any physical artworks to be submitted, the artist must comply with our request. Should there be any concerns, you may reach out to us at colours@bible.org.sg.

 

2. Prizes 

2.1     A “Facebook Most Likes” Prize will be given for each category of our 3 competitions.

2.2     All participants of our revamped competition will get a certificate each.

2.3     The winners for all of our “Facebook Most Likes” online competition will be announced on 28th August 2020, after 5pm (SGT). 

2.4     The procedure to collect the prizes for prize-winners will be given out on a later date. 

2.5     Prizes may be subjected to changes at The Bible Society of Singapore’s discretion.

2.6     Where applicable, prizes are subjected to the terms and conditions of the respective sponsors and third party vendors. The Bible Society of Singapore will not be liable for these conditions and any subsequent issues regarding the prizes after distribution to the prize winners. 

2.7     Where feasible, prizes can be sent to overseas winners. Overseas winners may receive different prizes of comparable value from the prizes listed.

 

3. Accepted Artworks

 

3.1 Theme & Judging

3.1.1     All artwork must depict the stipulated theme: People in Need in the Bible.

3.1.2     Even though this is an online competition, the submitted artwork must still be original in concept and execution. Any entry which plagiarises other artwork or contains defamatory, violent, infringing, indecent or unlawful material that violates local and international laws and regulations will be disqualified.

3.2 Medium

3.2.1    We accept the following types of artworks: painting/ drawing, sculpture, craft, textile, scripture calligraphy, digital art and photography.

  • Paintings/drawings: Common mediums include acrylic, batik, Chinese brush, collage, crayon, ink, mixed media, oil and watercolour.
  • Sculptures, craft, textiles and mixed media submissions: Entries must use non-perishable and non-toxic materials.
  • Scripture calligraphy:
  1. Participants may use a word, phrase, sentence or entire scripture verse(s) in their artwork. Please indicate in your registration form the scripture verse and translation from which your work is based. For example:

      John 3:16 (New Living Translation)

      Psalm 23:1 (Chinese Union Version)

      Exodus 14:13 (Hebrew Bible)

  1. Participants may use any language for their calligraphy text.

*Please contact us if you have any questions regarding your artwork/ medium. The organisers reserve the right to refuse participation of entries at their discretion.

3.3 Artwork Size (applicable only to Physical Artworks)

3.3.1     Please ensure that your artwork complies with the following size regulations:

  • 2D items (e.g. paintings, drawings, Scripture calligraphy, etc.)
    • Minimum size: 21cm by 29.7cm (A4 size)
    • Maximum size: 100cm by 70cm
  • 3D items (e.g. sculpture and some forms of mixed media)
    • Minimum size: 20 cm by 20 cm by 20 cm
    • Maximum size: 75cm by 75cm by 75cm

*Note: A3 size and above is recommended.

 

4. Registration & Submission Process

 

4.1 Participation, Registration & Submission

4.1.1     We accept participants from all countries.

4.1.2     Please register with your complete particulars and submit your entry online.

4.1.3     Upon registering and submitting your entry online successfully, you will receive an acknowledgement email within the next 24 hours.

4.1.4     Participation in this competition is completely free.

4.2 Physical Artwork Submission (upon request of organiser)

4.2.1     In the event that you are requested to submit your physical artwork, please note our operating hours and drop them off at:

  • During Office Hours (Mon-Fri, 9am-6pm)

4.2.2     If you prefer to submit your entry by mail, please mail it to: The Bible Society of Singapore, 7 Armenian St, #04-01, Singapore 179932. Participants are strongly encouraged to send their entry via registered mail. The Organisers will not be responsible for any loss/ damage caused during mailing.

  • An email stating receipt of artwork will be sent to the artist’s contact email within 7 working days of submission.

*By submitting your artwork to The Bible Society of Singapore, you agree to allow The Bible Society of Singapore to collect, use, and disclose and or retain your Personal Data with respect to the Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA) 2012.

 

5. “Facebook Most Likes” Competition

 

5.1     All submitted entries will be eligible for the Facebook Most Likes Competition unless it fails to meet Clause 3.1.2 of our Terms & Conditions.

5.1.1     Photos of accepted entries will be uploaded on the Colours of the Bible Facebook page within 7 working days of submission.

5.1.2     The entries with the most “Likes” on their original posts (for our different art forms and respective categories) will win our Facebook Most Likes prize!

5.1.3     Participants may invite Facebook users to “Like” the original post.

5.1.4     Participants may share the original post.

  • However, “Likes” on the shared post will not be counted.

5.1.5     The closing date for the Facebook Most Likes competition is 28th August 2020, 5pm (SGT).

5.1.6     Facebook users may “Like” a post from the time it is uploaded until 28th August 2020, 5pm (SGT). Participants are hence encouraged to submit their entries early.

 

6. Exhibition 

6.1     The tentative official launch of the online exhibition is 5th September 2020.

6.2     Aside from the winning Facebook entries, all other artworks stand an equal opportunity of being showcased on our online exhibition.

6.3     A physical exhibition for Colours of the Bible 2020 is not confirmed. Should there be one, The Bible Society of Singapore reserves the right to request artists to submit their physical artwork to us.

 

7. Other Rules & Regulations

7.1     Submissions

7.1.1     Any entry which is incomplete, illegible, incomprehensible, or not submitted before 21st August 2020, 5pm (SGT) will be disqualified. The Organisers reserve the sole right to disqualify any entry which does not comply with the criteria stipulated in these Terms & Conditions or otherwise deemed ineligible by the Organisers.

7.1.2     Due to the revamped nature of Colours of the Bible 2020, we will allow prize winners of the past year’s competition to participate and stand a chance to win our Facebook Most Likes Competition this year! 

7.2     Copyright

7.2.1     Artists shall be deemed to have donated the copyright to their creative works towards The Bible Society of Singapore’s mission work upon submission of their entries online.

7.2.2     Full credit and acknowledgement will be given to the artists, except in situations where it is not reasonably feasible.

7.3     Amendments/Limitations

7.3.1     The Organisers reserve the right at any time, to cancel or modify the art competition/ exhibition or substitute, withdraw, or cancel any rules or prizes without prior notice, without having to disclose any reason therefore, and without compensation whatsoever.

7.3.2     The Organisers reserve the right not to award any prize, or to award one or more but not all of the prizes. The decision of the Organisers shall be final and no correspondence will be entertained.

7.3.3     The Organisers may exercise their sole discretion to use the winners’ details, identification, artwork, image and captions related to the art competition (in compliance with the Personal Data Protection Act) for the purpose of marketing, publicity and announcements, without incurring any charges.
