My artwork is about ‘Eternity’. A place to go after my death brings me hope because our earthly life is perishable. However, accepting Jesus into my life brings hope and His Word in John 14:2 (NIV) gives me the assurance I need: “My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you?”

The woman with the issue of blood was desperate. Jesus was her only hope. In this painting, the woman in red is me as I have cancer. This bible story inspires me to place my hope in Jesus on my cancer journey. Our hope is built on God’s promises.
I drew a picture of a child’s happy face from receiving the promise of the verse; yet at the same time, with sadness in his eyes from living in a foreign land. To show how the hope endures through circumstances, I wrote the verse repeatedly in the background, on a discarded piece of cardboard (which homeless people often use for sleeping).
This drawing is about God’s promise to Abraham. It depicts God’s faithfulness-where He will bring to pass what He has promised. The stars represent the countless descendants that God promised and gave to Abraham.
My painting is in semi-abstract form. It shows briefly the 3 aspects of a Christian life. On the bottom right hand corner of the picture, it depicts pre-believers as represented by the colours of sin (i.e. evil, wickedness, disbelief, greed). There are also believers who are led astray by the evil one. However, 1 John 1:9 clearly gives the hope and promise of God’s forgiveness. The centre of my painting is painted in green which represents salvation, repentance, restoration, growth, and most importantly, faith. The musical notes, the opened door to receive pre-believers, the crucifix, the bible, the open palms are icons of joy, eternity, God’s Word and faith. Lastly, the Dove is the symbol of the Holy Spirit and also represents God and His Unconditional Love. His Heart which I have painted in yellow indicates the supreme power of God, His blessings, His promises and hope as recorded in the Bible.
