As a child, God helped David overcome challenges such as defeating Goliath. God was by David's side throughout his entire life. Therefore, David describes God as a rock that he can depend on. This drawing shows a rock being hit by strong waves. A child is sitting on the rock as it protects him from the dangerous waters. The rock is very stable and strong, like a fortress, and is not shaken by the strong waves. Therefore, because God loves His children including me, He is the rock whom we can depend on and find protection.
