When we choose to follow God, He does not promise us a smooth sailing journey;
Instead, He gives us Jesus - His beloved Son - who journeys with us lovingly through the adversities of life.
This painting gives us a glimpse of Paul’s hardship. The moments where he was entirely helpless clinging to debris in the open sea. His survival can only be attributed to God’s sustaining grace.
Through 2 Cor 12:9, we see God’s assurance to Paul through His hardship: “my grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”
For adversity is overcome not by our strength but by God’s unsinkable grace.
