In Genesis 18, the Lord and two visitors came to Abraham and told Abraham that Sarah, who was at the time 89 years old, would be pregnant and would give birth to Abraham's son the next year. Sarah was eavesdropping on the conversation, and she laughed when she heard this. I can imagine her disbelief for they had waited for 24 years for the son that God had promised them. Could it be? That they would receive the son they had waited for so long? To Sarah it must have seemed like it was all too late. But God. He stood firm on the promise He made Abraham years ago. He promised him generations. And God has told Him that it would happen through his son, Issac, the name which means: He who laughs. And God was faithful to His word. When Sarah, at the age of 90, gave birth to Issac, this time when she erupted in laughter it was an expression of joy and thanksgiving unto God. And I hope that this painting brings you laughter, as we respond in awe of God's grace and goodness.
